Guy, an Army veteran (01-02) in Midland, found himself facing one of the toughest battles of his life - not on the battlefield, but at home. While going through a divorce, his finances began to unravel, bills piled up, and before he knew it, he had fallen four months behind on rent. The stress of the situation grew when he received an eviction notice. With no clear path forward and unsure where to turn, the veteran reached out for help.

Ever wondered what $10 could do? It can save the lives of veterans like the one you're reading about in this story. Donate $10 a month and help us reach veterans before a crisis occurs. Together, we can do better. Our veterans deserve better.
Breanna, veteran support advocate, quickly stepped in to help. She searched for resources in Guy’s local community and connected him with a local community partner, which was able to cover a portion of his overdue rent. While this brought some immediate relief, there was still a significant balance remaining.
Determined to keep Guy in his home, the advocate expanded the search beyond local resources and began looking for national programs that could help. That persistence paid off when Semper Fi & America's Fund, through its housing assistance program, stepped in and agreed to cover the remaining balance.
With support from both local and national partners, the veteran’s overdue rent was fully paid, the eviction threat was lifted, and he was able to remain in his home during an already challenging time in his life. This story shows how collaboration and persistence can make a life-changing difference. A powerful reminder that when communities and veteran support networks work together, no veteran must fight their battles alone.
